i am currently working on a series of trees and fields with my linhof view camera. by using its swing and tilt capabilities, a sense of memory is created of these places that are disappearing due to road encroachment and urban sprawl. the large hardwoods along downtown new england streets, fields full of flowers or hay and natural groves of one tree species are not all that common and give us clues to the areas history and biodiversity.
you will find more examples scattered throughout the site.
i am also brainstorming a few ideas for books about some local groups of people. these ideas are still in the early incubation stage and soon i will be able to focus on the one that presents itself to me most clearly.

i plan on binding 2 original copies myself as i have taken some book binding classes and love the idea of handmade books and the book it self as an object.
traditional human activities are very interesting and spiritual for me such as haying fields, chair making, boat building, maple syruping, logging with horses, etc. i feel these activities are time tested and require much less human energy than their mechanized counterparts due to their simple nature. these activities are also rare to find still in practice and i want to document them while they are still happening. you will inevitably see a series based around this theme soon enough and the images wil be under the “work and play” title.
stay tuned for updates.
